Watching people white knight for billionaires is more amusing to me than it should be.

Any mammal, indeed any vertebrate, who brings value to the lives of many others, and makes their money honestly & legally in the free market, should be allowed to be a billionaire.

The issue is that free market capitalism leads to corporate greed, monopolies, bubbles ect While people should be allowed to be billionaires, we can't treat them all as earnest business folk when they're simply not.

That capitalism redirects to produce value as a collateral effect of pursuing profit. That's why capitalism (or some variation of it) works (compared with every other system ever), imho

I'm not wholesale against capitalism, I just feel that the idea of a totally free market leads to massive divides and wealth disparity between the rich and the poor. Am open to being educated further on the matter.

There will always be a gap between the rich and the poor. The real issue is the gap between the poor and the absolute poverty line.

Well you're right about the weath gap but if no one can be afforded that opportunity to break out (or a small percentage of the lucky ones) do you feel that it's an issue. I'm not comfortable with excusing greed when there is abject poverty (that's my opinion)

Again, the problem is not the gap between the rich and the poor. It's the gap between the poor and the absolute poverty line. Capitalism lifts the pyramid above the absolute poverty line. 1

People most definitely should be allowed to be billionaires. Billionaires should not be allowed access to politicians because they line their pockets with $millions. Being filthy rich isn’t the problem. Being able to sway politicians in your favor because you’re rich is.
