The FedGov, especially under obama, uses the SPLC's lists like they're gospel. I saw it when I was on active duty.

They will only be viewed discredited by people who already view them as discredited. Facts don't matter to people with a narrative.

Wouldn't it discredit their work with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram if this Big Tech companies looking to SPLC for info on who are hate groups? If SPLC are opinion then everyone should treat them as such

Isn't Gavin's lawsuit more nuanced? It's a claim of tortious interference with contracts and ability to earn income. Calling someone a hater is an assertion of an objective fact. It can be proved true or false.

An organization that presents itself as an expert on bigotry/hate & dangerous movements has a responsibility to ensure their accusations are accurate in its characterization of individuals & orgs since they're used to deny access to commercial/financial services, etc.
