Trust is low, but the layoffs prob have more to do w unrealistic promises of ever expanding traffic growth and business models that don’t work/make sense. There has been a huge media bubble and it is still bursting and will continue to do so.

VC wants SCALE, and 1000x returns. It's how they see media. The only workable model for all but NY Times is some sort of billionaire patronage. Which is depressing in a way, either Thiel is suing ya or Pierre Omidyar is funding you. The new media feudalism.
