Trust is low, but the layoffs prob have more to do w unrealistic promises of ever expanding traffic growth and business models that don’t work/make sense. There has been a huge media bubble and it is still bursting and will continue to do so.
VC wants SCALE, and 1000x returns. It's how they see media. The only workable model for all but NY Times is some sort of billionaire patronage. Which is depressing in a way, either Thiel is suing ya or Pierre Omidyar is funding you. The new media feudalism.

Don’t get me wrong, some of these sites probably shouldn’t exist. The decline of the big metro daily papers is far worse for our democracy than layoffs at HuffPo. But I actually think there is a Trump traffic bubble at the legacy outlets, too. So the reckoning is gonna continue.

I never really payed attention to media except local news and papers. Growing up my father was always screaming at both on how they were bias. When Trump announced that's when I got into National News. Trump Outed Them All "Fake News" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
