He would have turned 18 when the US stopped involvement in Vietnam

The last ground fighters in the Marines left in 71. A full year before he claims he joined. I'm still not convinced he even served until I see his service record or DD214 with my own eyes.

How were the kids supposed to know anything other than he was an old, potentially unbalanced man hitting a drum in their faces? Those who haven't lived in a big city might be surpirsed to know that people who appear this way are often suffering schizophrenia.

Have they came out with what the kid should have done yet? If he didn’t smile, they would have said he was being disrespectful to Native Americans or something... which I guess that’s what they are doing anyway. It is sick what they’ve done to these kids

I always ask for someone's DD 214 before I call them out on their BS. They may in fact be a veteran, and as we all know; veterans are never wrong, silly or stupid

Sympathy is used for those of us looking at the story from the outside. It’s used to blind the reader/listener into a false sense of emotional weight that helps you identify better with the hardships of one individual over the other. Creating a false narrative of sympathy is key

Pundits and never Trumpers tried to tie it to disrespect towards military, like McCain being captured.... but they got ahead of their skis, and now the cover up.

And would have been irrelevant even if they had, absent their having mocked such service. It is only relevant now to the extent that it proves him even more of a liar than we already knew.

His whole angle was the victim hierarchy strategy. He was painting himself as a victim because he isn’t white and also a veteran. That’s why he said it, to raise himself on the intersectionality victim status. He should have said he was a homosexual.

They weren't. It was so adults would start piling on by turning him into a hero that was mistreated by children.

In the traditional mindset I think.. An old man is supposed to be given respect at all times even if he is wrong. Optics. This is normal in most cultures outside the western world. I don't agree with it. I guess I'm this case the old man was using his old privilige.
