My grandmother rescued me and my 3 brothers in the middle of the night June 12th 1981...we were going to be taken out of the home..she changed the course of our lives that day and I'm forever grateful

Respectfully disagree with this. Grandparents today, with minor exceptions, love the idea of grandkids, but rarely partake in their upbringing or development.

It’s really silly to speak in generalities. My mother in law is heavily involved and makes it possible for my wife to keep her home-based business thriving while raising kids.

When I was learning about how many Native American Tribes governed, it was amazing the role the Matriarch played in the community. The council met and argued points on issues, with Chief and the Matriarch meeting afterward. The Eldest female often held much influence with the Ch.

I have been saying for over 40 years that there is no human more useless than the father of a newborn once the mother-in-law shows up.

Yes, my grandmother and aunt helped care for me when I was just weeks old. My aunt just called me and she's coming to visit me in ABQ in August. I'm really looking forward to it Unbreakable bond.

I totally agree, I have one grandson who is awesome but his other grandmother can’t stand him, she is constantly scolding him, he can’t do anything right in her eyes. No worries Nani is there for him, I have an extra special relationship, so he feels constantly lovedpic.twitter.com/X1KyAk1sxn

My mother and my grandma both helped me as a young mother. My husband was great, but he wasn’t home during the day. I relied on them a lot to help me. I was 21 and clueless.

Women didn't live long enough to become grandmothers in primitive times.

Grandmothers have run communities and tribes throughout history. Nowerdays they are either working or spent their life learning work based skills instead of family and community building ones. We’ve lost so much because of it.
