Because the students stopped singing their school song and started to taunt the native elder with a song they assumed would be offensive. They was no reason to chant "build the wall" if not in challenge to the obviously native person. Just plain stupid.

The elder was doing a protest chant in their faces. They returned with a Trump chant. Not a big deal either way. With a little selective editing, media turns this into clickbait fodder for the outrage machine.
