In law and philosophy, you discuss hypotheticals to discovery universal guiding principles. Do you kill a baby, who is innocent at the time, do stop further evil? Baby Hitler is one example of problem. What is the limiting principle?
Journalists, who aren’t trained in philosophy or law, consider the Socratic method “whataboutism.” Anyone who has thought deeply of morality has a better answer than, “Shapiro won’t kill a baby? He must be a Nazi!”

The premise of the hypothetical is that from your perspective future events already happened. The concept of innocence is affected by time travel. Baby Hitler can’t be innocent if the crimes will be commited just as certainly as they have been.
