Calling it now petty - as @LindseyGrahamSC esentially did today - is too late. If a pundit/Cognress member shrugged yesterday (or in case of many non-Trumpers who said it is maybe time to cancel SOTUs), they should STHU about Trump today.
The only honest way to cover Trump’s cancelling Pelosi’s trip is to call both petty because P cancelled SOTU, or to celebrate their boldness and ability to use the levers of power available to them. We do not have an honest media.

I agree with the dishonest media piece. I will also add that having received multiple CODELS in combat and non-combat zones they have always been a publicity stunt that has stop actual operations for DOD, DOS, and other government entities.

And if someone is being fair the SOTU is a drive to the “house” and ordinary. The trip overseas may be ordinary but it’s not well covered in the news. And it makes the House Dems look bad, especially while they are complaining on behalf of unpaid federal employees.

I disagree. POTUS has a reasonable expectation for Congress to be all hands on deck to pass constitutionally mandated legislation that is now more than 3 months late, protecting their 90% failure rate. Last I checked, CONDELs were not a role enumerated to Congress.
