There is so much emotional manipulation happening in media and politics. Most people are built to follow the pack and can’t parse that info in insightful ways. We happen to have really shitty people leading on all sides right now so people that follow are bound to be as well.

Emphasis on that last line. They think they're so smart because they stay up to date with the "news". No idea what's really going on.

True...but this happens too, especially with blue checkmarks and their accompanying egos: they tend to immediately link disagreeing with harassment. Too many act like, "if you don't share my opinion exactly, you are a nasty troll!" Seen you do this a few times....
