A big part of left wing populism is also about making American jobs pay well enough to live on too. Let’s get out of the trade deals _and_ tax the rich to provide society with benefits. Wealth Inequality is the root and nobody on the right is doing anything about it.
Left wing populism - Give people money for not working at all. (Socialism) Right wing populism - Get out of unfair trade deals to protect American jobs. That's the only relevant debate in the future. Conservative" exists as a name only, and is irrelevant to conversation.

I don't think you've captured the sentiment of left wing populism here. The far left seeks social revolution that overthrows the US government and replaces it with socialist Utopianism. Moderate leftist populism right now is just seething hatred for the political right.

Once people get hooked on that money, it'll be impossible to wean them off of it. You will have impoverished people not working while demanding that their money goes up to match inflation. Politicians will try to outdo each other in promising increases.
