many low carb advocates still support the sugar tax even though it doesn't work. Education would be a better tactic if reducing soda consumption was the actual goal.

most low carb advocates I meet are libertarians or anarchists who don't support *any* tax, especially one designed to influence personal choices.

You want to collect real money bu taxing carbonated beverages? Tax seltzer water/club soda. People who drink that are some of the most obnoxious and melodramatic when you run out of it on the airplane, they'll gladly pay the tax, I'll pay ot for them to stop annoying me! – at Normal Readiness Center (NRC) - IL Army National Guard

Restaurants once used soda to bundle food items in order to create sales. Soda tax killed that and now retailers can’t pay their retail rents.

Taxing sugar sodas is a failure, so I guess the next step is to tax obesity. The fatter you are, the more you'll pay. One hopes the scales of the DOF (Department of Fatness) will be applied equally to all, even the bloated Congress & deep-state.

I’m pretty sure that’s where government run healthcare would end up, either by design or necessity.

Fat poor people will find calories. A soda tax just means more juice or even alcoholic beverages.

This is so amazing. It could almost be described as the “law” of “unintended consequences”

When they did this here, the people on the “food stamps” were exempt from the tax

Boulder, Colorado. Basically the same result with their far left agenda and their sugar tax.

Always good to see the data on how a law turned out. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could see data on whether every government program was reaching their targets to achieve their mission? Like decreasing poverty?
