IRBs have never been held accountable and are now more and more politicized. Best case: they are confused about their authority; worst case: they follow personal vendettas. It's probably a mix of both

In reality, all of his papers should have been rejected. The problem is that academia churns out non-critical thinkers...these "educated" people are then hired for (yet not prepared for) these gate-keeping positions. I am glad he exposed a weak link in the system.
