I went to a British boarding school ( you do not go home for weeks at a time) from the age of 7. This was like being "on social media" 24 hours a day. Mind you...I am hopelessly damaged!

I’d be careful drawing conclusions from this. The same argument could have been made 100 years ago about compulsory public education, or going to a dance. Social interaction in general makes people anxious but is a critical part of a healthy childhood.
