On paragraph 7 and the author has already made it pretty apparent that they don't get stoicism. or at least no interpretation of it that I've ever seen.

It seems that Stoicism is currently popular in America to compensate for the collective inability or refusal to control emotions. As in all things, the dose makes the poison - and the medicine.

Stoicism is not anti-ambition / desire. Merely a tool to use for when ambitions succeed or fail - to keep ones perspective evenly keeled.

Buddhist belief is absurd. There is no escape from suffering. The only coherent solution to suffering is the suffering Messiah in Christ. It is also self refuting, since in order for one to eliminate desire one has to desire it in the first place.

Hierarchy itself is the prime source of suffering, and is immutable. Human misery is written into Darwinian biology. There is no overall good. Just an endless game to pass on your genes instead of your neighbor's. Buddhists get it. Only alternative is denial of the will to live.

She seems to undermine herself, and is actually critiquing discipline along with it. I don’t see how you advance “technology” without “self control” and actually self control does the opposite of making you a victim of circumstances.

Reminds me of something I heard once about how Eastern religions, because they believe in cycles and reincarnation, never inspired progress as much as the Western religions, which subscribe to a beginning of history and an end of history.

I use to suffer, quite a bit from Desire .Not so much anymore .I grew out of it. I guess Loving someone or something is out ! Cause sooner or later it will make you suffer, and to be happy you need, someone to love. Something to do! and something to look forward to.
