AOC has all of my knowledge of social media, and a fawning lapdog media. I literally ended James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. And made a powerful Congressman resign. If you want to argue social media w/me, I will just block you outright. AOC's social media is real power.

What do a bunch of Boomers in Congress do with someone like AOC? You can't steam roll her. Pre-social media, it would be easy to. Give her bad committees and hold up funding. You can't do that anymore, at least not to her. What happens next? NO ONE KNOWS. Sui generis.

To understand power of persuasion, here is a useful heuristic - Has the person memed a false personal narrative into existence? Trump did. AOC did. She's was a poor working class girl, practically homeless, lived in the Bronx. Cry that it's not true. That's not my interest.

While I admire her misguided passion, her far left statements can and will be used against her in the next election cycle. The Republicans played kid gloves the last two years and got little done besides a tax cut. They deserved to lose the House.

She will singlehandedly force democrats to take a more far-left stand or join the Blue Dog / DLC caucus of moderates. While she may fire up the far left base in the interim, it will be difficult to build a sustainable majority out of that.

I think we are giving an outsized bit of attention to AOC - look at some of the other loony toons elected and their policy stances as well. Rage is a wonderful tool, but it has to be harnessed.

You make a good point. People on the left were scared of and frustrated by Trump, and I think we on the right are in for a taste of that. The difference is that Trump's ideas were dead center as late as 2000, whereas AOC's have been disastrous wherever they were tried.
