Trump knew how to drive a news cycle in 2015-2016, but he never used his following to organize pop-up rallies. He always saw his Twitter, as he said, "It's like owning the NY Times without the losses." He never understood it as a tool of activism. AOC understands that it is.

Before everyone made it impossible to ignore AOC, I told people she would be big, because she runs it. It's also why I block all AOC haters, not because I "like" her, but because I don't have time for stupid people. There is no one who understands social media better than I do.

AOC has all of my knowledge of social media, and a fawning lapdog media. I literally ended James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. And made a powerful Congressman resign. If you want to argue social media w/me, I will just block you outright. AOC's social media is real power.

What do a bunch of Boomers in Congress do with someone like AOC? You can't steam roll her. Pre-social media, it would be easy to. Give her bad committees and hold up funding. You can't do that anymore, at least not to her. What happens next? NO ONE KNOWS. Sui generis.

To understand power of persuasion, here is a useful heuristic - Has the person memed a false personal narrative into existence? Trump did. AOC did. She's was a poor working class girl, practically homeless, lived in the Bronx. Cry that it's not true. That's not my interest.

The best way to deal with bad policy is to focus on the bad policy independent of who supports it. E.g. Green new deal is bs if you're for controlling climate bc anything we do will be dwarfed by Chinese & Indian CO2 growth. And it includes consumption/carbon taxes - hurts poor

The problem with the position AOC is unstoppable is that the ideas are not. Of course, if people are more superficial than goal-oriented then her influence will be outsized. But again, the trick is to challenge the policy/ideas you're against instead of people who are for them.
