It is true. It took me almost 30 years to go back and visit and I was in my brother's neighborhood only, which I know is safe and it is surrounded by guess what? A wall, only one way in and out, no real crime in that area.

This is actually true. Has been for several years. My best friend growing up was a Sargent USMC Recon. He operated in this region for many years. He told me Italy is the murder capital of the world.

For example, in modern organized crime the Italian mafia discouraged killing innocent people. Family members off limits. Mexican organized crime regularly murders innocents - incl women and children. Human life not sacred & often sacrificed for slightest perceived benefits.
