The other corner of twitter is the men helping men side.
And yes it can be a locker room...
But those are good guys.

Sometimes media people embed w/me...at a seminar, a media paused in a knowing way. “You want to ask me about how my audience here is diverse given that I’m some monster, don’t you?” Uh yes actually that’s what I was thinking. Mindset area is totally different from politics.

One reason I never bought into the racial stuff is that I’ve always seen many of the challenges facing black men as resulting from War on Drugs and the destruction of family. They had a tragic head start. But now white me are OD’ing, using meth. Helping men is an area I live.

My audience skews male, but always was “diverse.” But I don’t tokenize my guys. It’s demeaning to them and is an insult to their humanity.

My mindset work is alway why I never had time for the “Racism isn’t real” nonsense from conservatives. The black male experience is different. It just is and denying it denies reality. I see this in my work daily.

I deal with these unfairnesses in a constructive way. Mindset means you recognize the world as it is, the rules as they are, and you find ways to win even in a rigged game.

One of the more amusing aspects of mindset work is the scorn it draws. “Self-help hurr durr!” As if living a better life is something to ridicule. But have you looked around? People are a damned mess.

Back to the media. What is their greatest fear? Their fear is men of all races getting together. If you doubt this, go read those articles claiming that multi-racial men’s clubs are actually “white supremacist.”

The war on men started with the attacks on black families. Explain the crack vs cocaine sentencing disparities. You can’t. And then once black men attacked badly, the left moved on to white men. It was always hatred of men animating them.

Society has limited masculinity to what I call - Bacon and beer. I really like IPAs and bacon! This guy is a victim of this programming. No one would see this guy in public next to me and doubt who was the gorilla. But he eats steak. Grrr!pic.twitter.com/p09n4iW8mV

Society will let you “be a man” if you limit that to discussing craft brews and eating bacon. But if you talk about force of will, purpose, living life on your terms...Then you find out right away how limited men are.

And the war on men is cross-racial. Black victimization voices get all the media attention. But there any many black men putting in work to help other black men (and all men) live better lives. The media eraces them.

@RealCandaceO. There’s a conversation to be had, - it’s not for me or WHITE LIBERALS to lead. No “conservative” had tried having helpful conversation. - Where you talk about about societial issues without denying a person’s lived experience.Show this thread
