Speaking of growing up poor...When I saw that video of a wrestler with deads getting his hair cut, the racial angle....I saw a prick referee. White kids had to cut their hair, too. These are the indignities poor kids of all races face. The lack of power.

You’re taking away the personal responsibility aspect. I grew up in a working class neighborhood with differing incomes at school. Still I had the same opportunities the rich kids had. No bouncer holding a velvet rope at study hall

I agree...you have to account for personal responsibility. We are middle class & my daughter chose to go to a dual enrollment high school to get 2 years of college free. It was HARD taking honors classes & college classes but she did it...1/2

because she knew it would help her in the long run! She is now an 18-year old w/ a HS diploma and an Assoc. Degree. She is a Jr. @ our local University. Life is not always easy but if you are willing to work hard there’s nothing you can’t accomplish! 2/2

I grew up poor, where I learned a lot about life and street smarts. Lessons I wouldn't have learned if I was a spoiled rich kid who had everything handed to them.
