College sports are inherently exploitative, college athletes should be paid salaries. Legacy admissions should be abolished. As with unpaid internships, it creates structural barriers to upward mobility. I’ve always said this. Populism, not conservatism.

They also get monthly stipend We got ~1k per month stipend during school year. Life was simpler so not as much need to accumulate assets.

Considering that most college educations nowadays cost 20k a year or more, they are making plenty. The money schools make off sports should go back into the general fund to help with affordability for everyone. Of course, it just helps line the administrators pockets.
