Are you an atheist or agnostic who opposes abortion? If so, why? I DO NOT want or need to hear arguments against or opinions about abortion from believers. I want to hear from those who aren’t religious.

Interesting comments from people who are anti-abortion for secular reasons.pic.twitter.com/LPMkuEXOGe

Because one's opinion about whether fetuses are people or not can be completely independant from religion as the separation between fetus and human being is completely arbitrary.

Every pregnant woman has two beating hearts in her body & ONE of them does NOT belong to her.

Secular case against ab: Bad for your personal well being and mental health. Watched a girlfriend go through deep depression over one (from her previous man.) She was not religious. That's why the left has to spend so much energy pretending it's like any other bodily function.

Yes, I think most of us realize that if it has a heart beat it’s a life.. and something inside your heart/head just knows it’s not right to kill a living person. Now that we can see ultra sounds of what is happening it’s even more real.

The secular case against abortion is the evolutionary imperative to procreate. It is 100% the only thing our species is required to do: survive. Abortion is discivic.

It's the idea, espoused by religious and seculars alike, that intentionally taking an innocent human life is wrong. The disagreement seems to be whether the fetus is a living human being, but I know my atheist friends are also against murder.

I think there are a fair number of non-Christians who think murder is bad.

Yes, there is. It is established science that the unborn are alive and human, with unique DNA. The right to life supersedes all others including choice, since it is the one from which all other natural rights are derived. We manage other conflicts of human rights similarly.

Perhaps this shows the abortion debate is becoming less a religious argument and more a political one.

Im religious but subscribe to the Non-Agression Principle relating to the trespasser question. Abortion is always an act of aggression UNLESS the fetus's condition can be kept the same or improved.

The secular case isn't at all removed from the Christian case. It's entirely possible to respect the philosophy of the Bible, as well as its impact on Western culture, without having faith.

...Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness... has to be in that order. So we should protect life first. Without that the others don’t matter
