        Americans are notorious for their lack of historical knowledge so I wont blame you. Gandhi was a wealthy lawyer in South Africa where he lived from 1893 to 1914. He published weekly newspaper columns saying Africans were subhumans and racism understandable

        He was really racist though, called black South Africans “barely human”. His image has been so carefully crafted, with a lot of bad and creepy stuff covered up. Doesn’t mean he didn’t do good in the world, too. I believe there’s also a petition at Davis to remove his statue
