This is why American tech jobs are always going to foreigners, and colleges and universities have to pay students to be enrolled in tech.
Yes & no. There's an endless supply of talented foreigners to do tech jobs, but unless I missed an update, there isn't a shortage of qualified Americans. But those persons are fine w/ lower salaries & since their legal status is tied to the company they stay longer/endure more.
The problem isn't their IQ, it is their imagination. Communism requires strict adherence to state ideology and no room for dissent. The Chinese are no threat in AI due to this. Japan will pass us way before China ever does.
One thing you haven't accounted for is the general lack of creativity among high IQ Chinese. Creativity seems to thrive best where freedom exists. This might get in the way of a true autonomous AI created in/by China.
they may give no f--ks about PC culture but they give many f--ks about their own police state. That environment is not an engine for creative output. And a cautionary tale for where we're headed.
A “unified” China is not the historical norm. A “splitting-up” China is just as worrisome as a “globally competing” China. IMO.
Of course, Asian gives no f about PC when they are really not diverse, which the left does not care that is a problem, for being and creating racism.

Agreed. China has a population 4.3 times as large as the USA. Scientific and focused programs of training and research means they'll progress faster. The only other country that comes close is India with 3.7 times US.
One problem.....their population has been repressed for so long all creativity has been repressed as well. We create, they replicate.

the creativity springs from freedom, but since we are ourselves in a totalitarian system, like they are, we are getting weaker every day, I believe you have got have happiness before you can have great progress
America is about bringing the people from the bottom (ignoring deficiencies) higher. Asia is about nurturing those at the top and with growing potential.
