Most socially funded programs would be unsustainable with open borders, that would include but not limited to things limit fire fighting, policing, schooling, and welfare programs. Even infrastructure wouldn't be able to grow fast enough.
You can have a high minimum wage or open borders, but not both. Economic populists like myself believe in living wage laws and recognize immigration restriction for law-skilled labor is required. No one else is talking about this. That is why few understand the future.

I would change that to you can have high wages for low-skilled jobs or open borders, but not both. High MINIMUM (mandated) wages hurt the poor...read the research on "living wage" laws. They result in less jobs/fewer hours overall. A few poor people do better, most do worse.

I must disagree with a higher minimum wage as this would be disastrous for the poorest in our nation. Yes it would lift many above poverty but totally screw over just as many if not more people. Companies will hire less, hours will be slashed and people laid off its not sensible.
