I've been getting messages for two weeks, mostly from people I actually admire or interact with frequently, who want to know why I've unfollowed them. Stupid.

Is happening ‘on the left’ too. Difference is on that side they don’t feel it’s a conspiracy. Also voluntary sample and confirmation bias & logic is a problem eg Rubin’s question “anyone noticed they’ve been unfollowed from my stream?” which returns the obvious responses.

6 months ago I apparently muted the main twitter account I actively follow ...I did not mute Mike's account ....someone did it for me...would love to meet the EE of twitter who thought I needed to mute your account

That fits my experience too, and I've never been unfollowed or had difficulty seeing Tweets from any of the conservatives who complain about getting shadowbanned or censored, except for one who was indeed shadowbanned and was abusive to others and has since been unbanned.
