The left wants to have it both ways. On one hand they say these countries are not sh*tholes, and on the other hand they say none of these countries could possibly take in refugees. Which is it? Because it can’t be both.pic.twitter.com/XbrUCzBeNf

The most satisfactory answer I've seen so far: https://twitter.com/JaumeArago1/status/1054809031452303362 …
Panama also does a good job of holding its own. But it’s history is much more linked to the US and Colombia rather than rest of CA.
Can’t speak for others, and Costa Rica was wise enough to incorporate English immersion (and legalized gambling), but here was an interesting piece on Honduras by Al Jazeera.pic.twitter.com/MLL7Xq3HOg
I'm gonna call you Joseph from now on as in Joseph Goebbels since you appear to be Don the Con's propaganda minister. Ever been in Central America? RICH Americans invested big time in Costa Rica raising the standard of living. I also think there may be no extradition treaties.
Costa Rica has a functioning, albeit shrinking middle class. Their economy is built around eco-tourism. The Pacific side is well developed, while the Caribbean side is more charming and reminiscent of 1950s Jamaica.
They are also very proud of their "Tico" culture.
Costa Rica has a very stable goverment. Democratic republic like the United States for over 100 years. Sovereign since 1847. Constitution in 1949 Others dictatorship, drug controlled, socialist, agricultural based. No industry.
They sure did. Had a civil war for years. Also no military eliminates potential problem. Can prevent an over throw of the goverment
If you're refering to the 2010 dispute, Isla Calero Island. Had nothing to do with an army invasion. Both used police. Google maps was a problem. But in the end. Costa Rica won. Didn't lose the island.
The land of bananas and coffee....what could go wrong?
Because the US government has overthrown the local governments in those other countries several times, while it essentially administers Costa Rica as another Puerto Rico.
@NoLongerBennett
Airplane was a great movie..
Costa Rica has large population of wealthy expats due to a few favorable local policies. Lack of standing army perhaps prevented coups & subsequent pendulum swing between feudalism & socialism. Seems to be drifting towards socialism tho. Probably won't last much longer.
it is called economic osmosis
Pretty simple— capitalism.
