I never liked it either. I’m a huge proponent of concealed carry but never understood why people want to open carry.

Open carry serves a few purposes including visual deterrence, accessibility and comfortably carrying weapons too large to hide (like many large frame 6-shot revolvers).
-
I don’t care what other people think of open carry. People used to walk around with guns no problem and nobody batted an eye. It’s used to be called America.
-
In NH many people open carry. My husband does. It also helps get tourists from Mass to avoid us.
-
A major argument from the paranoid crowd is "a bad guy will see you as their first target before you see them". Fair point. However, people willing to kill someone immediately like that would likely do it anyways. I'd need to see stats for open carriers being ambushed and killed.
-
NH is a constitutional carry state. It is also one of the safest states in the US.

Carry however you want. Open carry is better than no carry.

So what! I agree its better to conceal, but open carry should be protected. "Shall not be infringed" period!
-
I agree. However a militia wouldn't stand a chance against the current US government and or military.
-
I think the "militia" would be way more effective than any of the guerillas our own forces have fought. Don't make it easy by not being armed.
-
I agree and it's an extremely unlikely scenario anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would fight to the death for the Constitution. Even if it ment taking a MOAB to the face.

Well thats just you Brother. I don't care either way. I do like having the

I guess it all boils down to public manners. We are free to choose any number of anti-social behaviors. And, happily, most people don't. Imho open carry belongs to that category, like public nudity. Nothing wrong with the human body but there's a time and a place.
-
Nice try bud. but no. Trying to Equate Open Carry with A Illegal Act (Public Nudity is still illegal most places) is not the same. I'll grant you Manners matter because "Manners Maketh Man" but Open carry and Nudity are so different, change 2 Brandishing a Weapon then I'd agree.
-
I agree with you that "open carry = public nudity" is not a perfect analogy. But the flavor is there. I do not think it is unreasonable for some people to feel uncomfortable around open carry. Nor for others to be comfortable. That's why it comes down to a question of manners.

You have to open carry if you haven't received a concealed carry permit. So just think of 'open carry' as really 'trans carry' since we are transitioning from: no carry --->open carry---->concealed carry.
#TransCarry. -

In the country you wouldn't think twice if someone open carried. We should get rid of cities before we get rid of open carry.
