A clever article. We have the ability to suspend contradiction and inconsistency which, alone, is evidence our brains are not computers. This is proof of our freedom as is the ability to be right for the wrong reasons. It releases us from the infinite regression of Zeno's arrow

Everyone missed the fact that Cerno was making the point from this article that Christine's memories from 35 years ago are ephemeral & laughable as evidence against Kavanaugh. As a side note, the author of the piece should learn the difference between uploading and downloading.

It's obviously not his area and so, not important. "Cute. But not important." And just because it's funny, let me put this down here.pic.twitter.com/n9FLVFWYoT

I appreciate your assumption that I am too busy with important matters to take it all in right now.

I didn't enjoy it. I'm a physics graduate, so I might be biased in preferring more mathematically described speculation about the nature of things we don't understand.

I find this article weird. It seems like pretty much the only thing it's saying is that the brain is not literally a computer. Guess what, we knew that already. It says the information processing metaphor is 'invalid'. How so? It's clearly good enough for to use it all the time.

Doesn't this throw a kink in the underlying assumption for the simulation theory?

Well, there goes my encouragement to adults exclaiming "Math is hard!", reminding them they perform complex calculations in everyday life. Oft illustrating w the reduced 3rd order diff-eq of "open road daylight passing another vehicle towards another oncoming vehicle"

Neurobiology gets "BITCH… SLAPPED"!! In this clip she helped write, Mayim Bialik of The Big Bang Theory, a neurobiologist herself, confirns Epstein's assertion that neurobiology is operating with an information processing metaphor - and doesn't recognize it as metaphorical.pic.twitter.com/A1uHtR5smh

liked the article. I.P./Computer was the next level of complexity to use as a metaphor. We don't always understand how extensive the complexity of design we have or the depth of the intellect, mind, & spirit connection.

Great read! This part made so much sense: “The three ways we are changed by experiences: (1) we observe what is happening around us (people, music, instructions, writings, images, etc);
-
(2) we are exposed to the pairing of unimportant stimuli (such as sirens) with important stimuli (such as the appearance of police cars); (3) we are punished or rewarded for behaving in certain ways.
-
“Therefore, effectiveness occurs when we change in ways that are consistent with these experiences.”

Folks this is a great read about he human mind. Take the time it will be more worthwhile than surfing through social media.
