most of us worship an old nuclear armed icbm instead of a monolith, but the new generation doesn't take it as seriously

Won’t the modular approach invariably require multiple fees across the various network providers? Seems expensive, slow, hard to pay..?
What about security guarantees? Aren’t they fragmented across each modular cluster, instead of inheriting the security of a unified network?
