This was probably a contractual obligation. Singer having sole directorial credit was another way for him to retain a grasp on a project that had long stopped being only his. Still, the Business As Usual bullshit doesn't play anymore.

How is it that even when I'm tweeting about the credited sole director of Bohemian Rhapsody being a long-time accused sexual harasser and abuser I still have to deal with "The critics got it wrong on this movie" tweets? If that's your big issue right now, you're beyond help.

Honestly, if you're not just endlessly mad about Bryan Singer in the way we all were about Harvey Weinstein then there's something deeply wrong with our system.

not that he stands a chance, in fact the mixed reviews suggest Bohemian Rhapsody probably won't be nominated for best comedy/musical at the globes
-
No way in hell it doesn't get nominated for Best Musical or Comedy. The fact that it's 8.4 on IMDB and 95% for audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes says a lot as well. Critics got this one wrong.

DGA rules are such bullshit if it were me. Dexter Fletcher would have got at least Co directing credit.
-
There's also precedence for sharing a director credit with your reshoot guy. The recent Nutcracker movie did just that. Clearly, someone on this movie and their team didn't want that.
