I don't actually think this has anything to do with intelligence per se. A lot, and I mean A LOT, of PhDs, scientists and academics I know practice a lot of weird stuff, not supporting by evidence...once you personalize something, it seems your brain kinda falls out.

@CaulfieldTim. I empathize with her desperation. Of course, let's continue to study cannabis for cancer. But we aren't there yet; likewise for many conditions. The hijacking of hope/emotion by misinformation is dangerous/can lead to neglect of evidence-based treatment. -

Steve Jobs tried to treat his cancer with diet and alternative medicine. He later said he regretted not going with scientifically proven medical treatments immediately. Steve Jobs, of course died from that cancer.
