I've read it (and critiques). I think it makes a strong case that debates about slavery helped shape the Constitution. As far as slavery being a motive for the Revolution, it's basically speculation.

History is regularly being rewritten; the newer takes are not necessarily “better”, but blindly ingesting someone’s ideas just because they are popular, could be an intellectual dead end. As Faulkner said: The past isn’t dead, it isn’t even past.”
