    Employment law is stacked in favor of employers and against workers. But even after reading this I remain unconvinced AB-5 is a net-positive for workers. Really seems more like a blow against Uber/Lyft and for organized labor than anything else.

    California law AB-5 has either been hailed as the strongest blow against the most exploitative tech companies in existence or a talked about as a death sentence for the very workers it seeks to protect. I dug into it for :

    Matt ran a FUD measure last year to spike/confuse voters around an effort to streamline approvals for 100% affordable projects. Unlike other major cities, anybody can stall any project for about $600 with an appeal. He was protecting that system.

    Thread and yes. It's a terrible soundbite, but the fact is that when lots of rich people move to your city, it's better to build housing for rich people than no housing at all.

    New market rate housing prevents displacement because wealthy people would rather live in it than outbid you to live in your house. I don't get why this is such a mysterious concept for people.

    My latest: What’s the new San Francisco car break-in hot spot? An obscure Safeway parking lot with a 305% spike in one year. Thieves are so brazen, they even broke into a car with people inside it. New DA told neighbors what he’ll do about it.
