What's at issue is that reporters have to be mindful that readers don't necessarily know how something works or whether a claim is factual, and simply repeating a tweet or a sound bite can build an unintended narrative. People retain what they hear repeated.

  2. I've read a lot of obituaries. Not one began with a reflection on the deceased's penchant for dividing and tormenting families, exacerbating the anguish of a nation at war, or pointedly humiliating other people. Remember what's important.

Forget personalities and elections. Consider what brought on this : the use of the Ukrainian people, taxpayer dollars, defense and foreign policy for political gain, followed by efforts to block access to facts, documents, witnesses. We cannot let those things stand.

In commentary, in letters to the editor, I read that people have gone numb from it all. I'm not numb. Events since November 2016 have reaffirmed what truly matters: how we treat each other and this good Earth. Don't be distracted or discouraged. Keep going.
