Mountain Lion protip: plutil has a new '-p' option that prints plist files in a human-readable form
-
@Catfish_Man OK then, then let’s see some more enhancements to plutil. :-) -
@Catfish_Man@mjtsai Apple's been threatening that for 10 years now... -
@gregneagle@mjtsai I'll make it happen eventually :) compatibility is hard, but change is necessary. -
@Catfish_Man@mjtsai Understood. You will break 1000s of scripts out there, including major software vendors' package preflight/postflights. -
@gregneagle that'd be why it hasn't happened yet. Need to figure out a smooth transition. ML did change the situation a good bit though. -
@Catfish_Man Easy: Deprecate `defaults`. Add a new tool that doesn't work with arbitrary plists. -
@gregneagle in the end, the simplest thing might be for it to just detect the legacy case and shell out to the proper tool, heh -
@Catfish_Man@gregneagle If you want us to use PlistBuddy, how about putting it in the default$PATH?
