Good question. Why did land speculators buy land that could not legally be developed, once DF was in power? And now can make tens of millions from those purchases, because DF and the Ontario Conservatives are now legalizing development on that land? Why oh why?

The fact that @OntarioPCParty connected land speculators own the majority of greenbelt land @fordnation just opened for sprawl is no surprise. That many have been spending tens of millions of dollars on purchasing greenbelt land since Ford came to power...what did they know? twitter.com/CBCQueensPark/…

This decision is being made because certain land speculators ("aka developers") have lobbied extensively for their land to be taken out of the greenbelt. They also donated significantly to Ford and the Conservatives. Greedy, yes. But also corrupt.

It’s not though. What’s needed is clean drinking water, clean air, farmland for food. All of which are in jeopardy thanks to this guys either greed or complete incompetence. Not sure yet which. twitter.com/globeandmail/s…

For those accusing CUPE of rushing into a strike: may I remind you that CUPE tried to negotiating with this government 5 MONTHS ago. This could have been resolved in the summer, but the government wanted it to happen during the school year so a strike would play in their favour.

I want this whole province shut down. Post-Secondary needs to stand with them. Every single Union needs to take a stand. And we need to protect the Greenbelt. This is just the beginning. Make them wish they’d never won. #Toronto #Onpoli

Woah. CUPE’s Fred Hahn with an impassioned speech and some BIG tidbits saying they met with other union leaders and the “resistance” is not alone and will grow. It sounds like there could be more unions joining the picket line.

This might be the most sinister Queen's Park Friday Dump in a long time. They planned this months ago. Everyone is talking Notwithstanding Clause and strike. They wanted the public at maximum distraction for killing the Greenbelt.

Here we go. That greenbelt protects us from apocalyptic flooding. That greenbelt is the last bit of space coyotes have. They're aleady starting to ruin life for us, I can't go for walks with Tia without fearing a savage attack. STUPID STUPID CORRUPT. cp24.com/news/ontario-p

I don't think enough people appreciate how many of the basic perks of modern employment (weekends, paid overtime, parental leave, etc.) only exist because of unions. Every. Single. Worker benefits from unions, even if you've never been a member. Defend collective bargaining.

A good public education is a competitive advantage Ontario enjoys against nearby US jurisdictions that have fallen for the voucher system scam, gutting their public schools. To lose ours would be disastrous for Ontario, but Conservatives *hate* public schools more than anything.

Y’all, I am interviewing an 86-year-old gay man — A former female impersonator who immigrated from Cuba at age 17. They told me that they kept a photo album of every lover they’ve had since 1950. We just spent the past hour going through it. I have never been more gagged.

It’s not just about “keeping kids in classrooms”. It should be about the teachers and educational support workers that make those rooms special. A classroom is a room. But great teachers, those people change lives. If you care about kids, support and pay teachers fairly. ❤️

Dug Ford's government has plenty of money for salaries, but values the wrong kinds of work the Ontario government paints education workers as greedy for asking for an 11.5% pay increase over 3 years by contrast, here's how the OPP describes its pay increases for new recruits
The text of a screenshot from the Ontario Provincial Police Careers account on Facebook reads:

Ontario Provincial Police - Careers
The OPP offers a competitive salary, and you start getting paid from your first day of training.
• Recruit Constable Salary: $58,522.00
• Probationary Constable (after the successful completion of initial training): $74,617.00
• 1st Class Constable (after 42 months): $102,630.00
Please note: Upon acceptance of the job offer, the successful applicant will be required to pay a tuition fee to the Ontario Police College (OPC) before training begins. This tuition fee is $14,850. This includes the cost of meals and accommodations during your 12 weeks of training.
Financing options may be available to qualified candidates through the Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) Credit Union.
