This decision is being made because certain land speculators ("aka developers") have lobbied extensively for their land to be taken out of the greenbelt. They also donated significantly to Ford and the Conservatives. Greedy, yes. But also corrupt.

For those accusing CUPE of rushing into a strike: may I remind you that CUPE tried to negotiating with this government 5 MONTHS ago. This could have been resolved in the summer, but the government wanted it to happen during the school year so a strike would play in their favour.

I don't think enough people appreciate how many of the basic perks of modern employment (weekends, paid overtime, parental leave, etc.) only exist because of unions. Every. Single. Worker benefits from unions, even if you've never been a member. Defend collective bargaining.
