Parse was notable for being one of the few platforms that Facebook *wasn't* actively shitting on.

@newmyCF
@timburks Anyone who considers their app a "product" is fine. This mostly fucks over the smaller devs without server experience. -
@CastIrony @newmyCF Yes, but solutions will emerge. I haven't looked at the SDK code but expect this can be fixed w/ a URL update. -
@CastIrony @newmyCF Still, it's a respin that will force developers to deal with whatever new obstacles the App Review team has thrown up. -
@timburks @newmyCF The bigger problem IMO is that Parse couldn't continue existing as a business alone, it had to sell to Facebook in 2013. -
@timburks @newmyCF Which is yet another example of our pump-and-dump VC culture fucking up the tech ecosystem.

@CastIrony Shouldn't that be "all platforms you have control over"? -
@jackbrewster The problem is that goes down the NIH slippery slope really quickly. There has to be a middle ground. - View other replies

@CastIrony I don't even trust services with my end user stuff. I sure wouldn't build a business around something like that. -
@jackbrewster Lots of apps depending on Parse were quick one-offs by independent devs, not whole businesses. -
@jackbrewster And not having to worry about the server architecture might have been the difference between shipping a useful app or not. -
@CastIrony And now it's not useful anymore. End result, same problem.

@CastIrony@TheCocoaNaut good lesson for those@react devs -
@castirony Perfect reason for businesses not to trust Facebook for their pages. -
@CastIrony@pilky Well I trusted them *until* they were acquired, then the disclaimers followed…handling it better than StackMob at least. -
@CastIrony Happy to get started on@CloudMine, our Parse app importer, makes migration effortless & you'll love our tools, service & support -
@CastIrony Exactly. -
@CastIrony@timburks @newmyCF@jackbrewster@randyscovil without trusting any other mBaaS you can generate your own#API source code with us -
