In Modern Horizons, WotC stuck most of the splashy Commander stuff at mythic and put most of the future Modern staples at rare. Clever way to try and keep Modern prices under control, even if it leads to Modern players moaning and groaning at half the mythic previews.
I don't think folks appreciate just what a delicate tightrope it is to walk between "Modern Horizons was a dud - I don't want ANY of these cards!" and "Modern Horizons has so many expensive staples that I'm basically priced into spending $1k to keep up with Modern!"
Granted, some of you almost certainly feel one of these ways about Modern Horizons as is, but I still feel like they at least tried to keep this in mind.
Its usually held up in recent sets. Yes there are Teferi Heroes but there is also a ton of mythic casual/edh fodder and tends to balance out.
It’s not that. It’s that this is called “Modern” Horizons, and should have been called “Magic” Horizons. This won’t have a lot of impact on the format, & the meta will remain relatively unchanged. Might there be new FNM decks? Sure, that’s not what some of us were lead to believe
