I'm the same on the J question, I'm always asking myself why they want to destroy us. Btw, chickens cross roads because they are escaping a certain tribe who swing them. 
Chickens are land birds and they know it. They're mostly homebodies who learn a little and stay close to food. Foxes get mine occasionally so thats kind of a bummer.
My dad raised chickens as a kid. He once told me if you feed them, they never stray more than a few feet from where they are fed. Coops are to keep our predators, not keep the chickens in.
