The crew was told to wear gloves when handling Trump’s waterbottle and glass on the set of ‘Apprentice’ because it was an open secret he had the herpes virus. ‘Captain Valtrex’ was one of his nicknames. In other words, we had better safety standards than the WH. @realDonaldTrump

Yes, but not genital herpes. The personal items must have been in contact with something that has been in contact with a herpes sore or even the genital area w/o a sore (towels, for example). The virus that causes cold sores, however, can pass on lip balms, bottle tops, etc.

Genital herpes on your finger transmitted to your eye is still genital to herpes. Herpes simplex 1 on your lip transferred to a partner via oral sex is herpes.

My point being, wearing gloves to handle bottles and water glasses, out of fear of herpes, is definitely overkill. The virus doesn't live on those surfaces. But, I do agree that gloves are a good idea anytime you're around Trump. His whole body is like a festering sore.

90% of Americans have herpes simplex A - cold sores. Just most people don’t get them. However, they only gave topicals and didn’t give valtrex before ~2005 unless it was for genital herpes (25%), which is probably why he had the RX. TL;DR we all have herpes.

True. Few docs will prescribe valtrex for cold sores, but it knocks them out, if you're able to get it.
