I don’t who that “we” refers to. I’m assuming that it must be the hillbilly States. Normal people don’t even actually think about it. Nobody walking around California worrying about the Civil War
It means we have never really addresed it as a nation. I was refering to Ed Asner’s comment earlier in the show. But Spike Lee has further insights into this and perhaps it is something you should think about. ‘We’ refers to all of us as nation.

You are so right! I moved to the South in 1976 & was shocked to learn that the “War between the States”as Southerners call it, was still going on. Now in 2020 nothing has changed. This is where the Southern Evangelical churches come in. They brainwash kids as toddlers & it stays.
