It was often called reefer in the 60's-early 70's. I know because I was there.

Geeze it wasnt called that in the 60s or 70s. They showed us 'reefer madness' in health classes and we died laughing.

A bunch of us watched that movie at the student union at UC Berkeley in 1971. Hilarious. So, we called it "reefer" sometimes as an homage, but I think it was more pre-1965.

I smoked "reefer" in the '70s and it was definitely not called that. Grass, pot or weed daddy-o!
