Don Jr, Eric & Ivanka all grew up with an abusive parent in their father. They knew what he did to their mother the night he attacked her for his bad scalp reduction. They lived with his violent outbursts, accepted it and each now acts out in their own way and enables his anger.

Probably internalized it rather than 'accepted' it - it's what children who live with trauma and abuse often do to survive the wrath and rage of a seemingly omnipotent parent. In some ways the whole country is reenacting living with an abuser.

I truly believe ivanka will one day tell the world what he did to her too, I just don’t know if it will be before or after his eventual “fall”, and I double hope that the collective we don’t confuse sympathy for her with redemption when it happens.

What’s especially toxic here is the neglectful/abusive combination. Children in this environment ultimately tolerate the abuse because it beats being neglected. And another generation of monsters is created.
