Considering the rest of the candidates, the GOP primary thing didn't surprise me as much. He had a plurality behind him b/c he said the quiet parts out loud, and none of the rest of the field could cope with that.

The one questionable bit I remember was Falwell Junior's endorsement, and that looked like straight-up domestic blackmail.
