My dad was raised by a man who was pretty crazy before he went to WWII. My dad is very much like DJT and I was emotionally and physically (not as often) abused for decades by him. My dad loves DJT and would use it to harass me. I had to cut him out. It’s toxic. They are toxic.

It's actually fairly common for children of abusers. They try to stay on the abuser's good side so they don't get them angry. It starts when they are young and becomes a habit.

I have to remember all the people who have been in similar situations who didn't grow up to be a miniature version of what they secretly despise so my empathy doesnt get the better of me.

From what I've seen, people who grow up in such situations either become abusive themselves or deliberately go in the opposite direction.
