I think his dementia has progressed to the point that they are keeping him hidden away most of the time. On good mornings, they let him speak, but he starts sundowning by around noon. The physical and mental signs show his dementia has hit mid stage, he will only get worse.

He has dementia exacerbated by severe stress & a nasty personality. He has good days & bad days. The good days are decreasing & the bad days are increasing. He will be out of the public eye more & more because his confusion & forgetfulness will be too obvious.

The trip to Poland was most likely cancelled due to dementia. His behavior will be nearly impossible to conceal when traveling. Being in an unfamiliar environment like Poland will increase his anxiety and confusion.
