Very true. Although you could flip this around too - I have also seen a lot of "Americans are dumb. Why can't we be more like Europe. They figured this out." So there's a reason for everyone to want to ignore this.

That is a very misleading statement / comparison. In the first wave, many cases of COVID were never confirmed / detected because of a paucity of testing. For meaningful comparison, first and second wave new cases must be corrected for # tests and/or test positivity rate.

Not yet. That has generally trailed by several weeks. Pray that lessons learned/preparation for hospital capacity reduce mortality this time.
