Our norms of political debate are completely healthy, and anybody who says otherwise should be fired from their job.

The phrase means “glory to Ukraine.” Used by regular Ukrainians as a form of expressing love for their country & official military salute. This is like when liberals claim the ok gesture is a white supremacist symbol. Only here it is being used to excuse Putin’s genocide.

I’d go farther and say that a free speech culture isn’t just “compatible” with diversity and inclusion, it’s *indispensable* to those values. A free speech culture enables marginalized voices to speak. Speech by the powerful and popular is protected by their power and popularity.

Right or left, if you insist there can’t *possibly* be a serious threat to from your side of the spectrum you haven’t been paying meaningful attention. Like many things on Twitter “both siderism” isn’t actually an argument, it’s just another flippant dodge.

Also, if you’re unfailingly comfortable voicing most of your opinions, awesome! But consider whether that might be bc most of them hew very closely to everyone’s around you, not bc there’s no problem. There’s usually a cost to being ideological weirdo in the room, & it is rising.

We're now 2 years into covid. How do Americans feel about the job government officials have done controlling the pandemic and the impact on their civil liberties? I wrote about that in the NY Post. A thread on the results follows.
