These people are literally in it until they all get raptured and we're all left here by ourselves. They're not going to stop until Revelations shit starts happening.

I'd argue the greatest failing of queer people was the attitude of 'got mine' and once a step further up the ladder towards equality, kicking backwards at those still below them struggling. Unforgivable.
-
What we have learned is that a fair number of queer people were always conservatives. And just like all conservatives, they cared about issues only as long as it impacted them directly.

yeah :( thankfully, they have been losing the "culture war" for the most part now. they still have influence obviously/sadly but they seem to have lost alot of it because LGBT stuff is way more accepted than it used to be like 10 years ago. least what i see.
-
now i am not saying shit can't be better or "hurr brunch time" i just mean it seems that the suburbs and the majority of people are mostly cool/fine with LGBT+ folks and the moral majority kinda imploded. like it still exists in red areas and obviously famlys

They never left. We went with the old "oh they'll learn to live with it". America's recent election and the surge in right wing populism proved otherwise. Over 70 million still want people like us "gone."

I pass for straight most of the time, and I’d always have at least one coworker who’d open up to me about how “the gays” want all these “special rights”. I assumed they’d evolve their position in time, or just die mad. But no, given the chance to un-ring that bell, they would.

And it’s really gonna sting when the Supreme Court overturns Oberfell v Hodges. Almost like the powers at be can erase your civil liberties and your very humanity on a whim, and any meager win you manage to eek out within the confines of the system is transient and temporary.

It's not like certain religious movements don't have a several centuries long history dating back to the earliest colonization of Africa & the Americas of demonizing queer people as a means towards further oppression or anything... /sarcasm

I thought it was less a presumption that the religious right would admit defeat, but more that that was the final goal. We reached it, we can dust our hands and head off. That is how allies often work. A goal to be reached, even if that isn't how the world works.
-
Note, this isn't to say all allies work this way. But often that is how I have seen allies work, from LGBT+, BLM, Indigenous issues, etc. The emphisis is never on a continuous ongoing struggle and always on a goal, a way to fix something.
